Quito is the capital city of Ecuador. There are currently 2.8 million people in the city’s metropolitan area. There is a warm summer-mediterranean climate. Quito is known to have one of the largest and best preserved historic centers in the Americas and has nearly 130 monumental buildings representing arts, sculptures, religion, and more. Some major landmarks include the Palacio de Carondelet, Basílica del Voto Nacional, in Quito Metropolitan Cathedral. Along with museums and churches, there are many parks called Metropolitano, Bicentenario, and La Carolina. Ecuador’s capital is a vibrant city with many sight-seeing opportunities and a lot of exploring to do.
